Sovico Corporation Becomes Exclusive DiGiCo Distributor in Korea
Sovico Corporation, previously Daiyoung, has recently become the exclusive distributor of Soundtracs/DiGiCo products in Korea.
Sovico has been in the audio industry over 30 years and has distributed many high profile brands - mainly analog but alsoseveral digital processors – within that territory. “The market trend is going towards the digital domain,” says Sovico’s Yun Choi.“We have realised the importance of digital equipments and to keep up with this world trend, especially in high-end consoles, we’ve been tying to find the brand we want to be associated with and finally met DiGiCo.
“The union of the two companies is expected to bring out several positive synergistic effects. DiGiCo’s D5 is an innovative digital live console, earning a great reputation in a short time through its impressive performance at concerts and events of world-renowned artists. Therefore, the fact that DiGiCo has chosento work with us demonstrates our capability in this technology. This newly earned reputation will greatly help us to promote our image both domestically and internationally.
“Recently, overseas companies have produced many large-scale concerts and events held in Korea. These kinds of events require powerful, large-scale high-end systems and weare now confident that we have a complete system capable of running such performances. This will increase theopportunities for us to participate in these large-scale events,” continues Yun Choi. “And we can start to make inroads into other areas, such as the broadcast market, which used to be tough to get into due to the lack of a major product or system like a digital console. Nowadays, Sovico is actively working within broadcasting.”
Since confirming the DiGiCo contract, Sovico has held about 50 demonstrations and seminars for customers in Korea and receivedboth a great deal of interest and accolade. Prior to this, it was more difficult for Korean customers to get access to DiGiCo products, which were generally only available when engineers from overseas visited to do events.
“Sovico’s frequent demonstrations give more opportunity for people to actually see and touch the product and, by providing that, will also help toshow how user friendly this console is,” adds Yun Choi. “The D5 Live gets many compliments as the best live digital console in the market with easy control, great intuitive interface, excellent sound quality and stability. Our demo seminar is running in two versions. We either demo the system in the our building or visit customers with the product, and our markets vary from churches to art centers and broadcasting companies.”
To help customers easily understand the D5 Live, Sovico is producing a Korean version of the D5 Live DVD manual.
The first purchaser of a D5 from Sovico is by Modern Sound, one of the leading rental companies in Korea. Yun Choi concludes: “They are very pleased with their D5, and are even working with us to demonstrate the D5’s superior performance to more people. With our 30 years experience in the Korean audio industry and the amazing power of DiGiCo, this phenomenon will continue.”
