Allen & Heath Enters Shangri-La

Allen & Heath Enters Shangri-La

The 5-star deluxe hotel, based in Manila's main business and commercial district, has two ballrooms and over 3,000 square metres of meeting space, hosting many prestigious social events and high-profile local and international conferences. Stagecraft had previously provided sound systems for corporate and guest events at the hotel.

"In addition to a main ballroom - which can be partitioned into three sections - there are 15 function rooms, with the control room positioned on an upper level. It was vital to the hotel's 3 full-time technicians to be able to have remote control access around the complex to make quick changes to the system,' said Vangee Fortin, Stagecraft's VP of production.

"The Allen & Heath iDR system allows the technicians to distribute audio signals without having to be physically in the control room. We installed a total of 11 iDR-8 rackmount mixers over CAT5 cable, with 24 PL-4 wall plates and PL-5 IR handheld remote controls situated at various points to allow the managers immediate access and control to the audio levels and settings in the function rooms,' Fortin explained.

Stagecraft also installed five Allen & Heath GL2200 live sound mixing consoles to provide sound reinforcement for live performances in the main ballroom, complemented by 100 ceiling speakers and eight loudspeakers from Turbosound, which are powered by eight Crest Audio amplifiers.
