Allen & Heath Goes to the Ball with Crowe Film Launch

Two Allen & Heath ML5000 VCA live sound consoles handled mixing duties at the Australian launch of Russell Crowe's latest movie, The Cinderella Man. Held at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion, the charity event was attended by a "who's who" of Australia's brightest and best, with a $2,000 gourmet dinner and entertainment from Melanie C and Leo Sayer.

Based on a true story, The Cinderella Man is about a down-and-out boxer who resurrects his fighting career and rescues his family from the poverty of the Great Depression, becoming a folk hero for all those

strugling against adversity.

With a boxing ring at one end, a performance stage at the other, and a team of extras dressed in 1920's street clothes conversing and moving around the aisles, the Hordern was transformed. Celebrity DJ and Master of Ceremonies, Alan Jones, was stationed in the boxing ring with a backing band to manage proceedings, which included an interview with the star, Crowe, whilst the main entertainment took place on the main performance stage.

32 Hundred Lighting provided total production, audio and lighting for the event, selecting a 48-channel ML5000 for FOH and a 32-channel ML5000 on monitors, Audio-Technica mics, and Martin Audio speakers powered by QSC amplifiers.

The event raised around one million dollars for the 'Just Enough Faith Foundation', an organisation devoted to feeding and giving a second start to the homeless - a fitting analogy to the Cinderella Man's own story.

32 Hundred's MD Iain Reed commented: “This was a great night in which to be involved - not least because of the money raised. Technically it was smooth sailing for us with no issues, and everything sounded great!”
