High End Systems Releases New Wholehog 3 Software
Version 1.3.8 software for the Wholehog 3 operating system has now been released by High End Systems. This new software provides many enhancements to the already feature-rich lighting cosole and adds new features including ESP Vision connectivity, Levels view, Follow current or Follow Next cue-contents abilities, and an on-board Fixture Builder utility. Users can download the software from the Flying Pig website.
The primary goal of v1.3.8 was to improve much of the currently implemented functionality, says Brad Schiller, HES director of control systems development. “This new version has increased the software’s abilities in terms of data processing and network usage,” he explains. “Our development team has dedicated many hours to strengthening the core functionality of the software and hardware. In addition, they were able to sneak in a few new features that will greatly benefit all users.”
Version 1.3.8 software also enables a direct connection to ESP Vision via Ethernet for real time lighting fixture output visualization. A recent partnership between ESP Vision of Las Vegas and HES allows Wholehog 3 owners to make use of this ground-breaking visualization technology.
Existing Wholehog 3 users should contact ESP Vision to purchase a license. Their Wholehog 3 console serial number will be required for a special price, which is only available for a few months. New Wholehog 3 console purchasers will receive the special price offer at the time of purchase through High End Systems, for a limited time only.
During the development cycle for v1.3.8, HES once again enlisted the help of beta testers through the HES Software Testing Program (STP) to ensure the quality of this release. Tom Erickson of Minneapolis-based LightWorks Design Group experienced the testing program for the first time. “Having the chance to participate in the program has been a privilege,” says Erickson. “This update improves both the speed and the stability of the Wholehog 3 family and adds some long-awaited features. This software marks an important step forward for the Wholehog 3, and being involved in the beta process for this release has renewed my faith in the software developers and testers at HES.”
Adds Schiller: “We’d like to thank all the members of the 1.3.8 testing team for their hard work and dedication. Individuals interested in participating in future Wholehog 3 related software testing cycles should apply for the Software Testing Program on our website.”
