Cadac M16 Remote Mic Amp Gets a Korean Blessing

Cadac reports the first installation in Asia for the M16 remote controlled microphone amplifier, which made its debut at the high profile opening of the Yonsei Central Baptist Church in May this year. The largest single church construction in South Korea, Yonsei Central Baptist Church was formally opened by Pastor Yoon, with the M16 forming the primary microphone preamp system within the 13,000-congregation Sanctuary for use on the Pastor's voice and other primary mic sources.

The Cadac system also comprises the RM16 Remote Control Unit, located in the FOH cockpit area with the Harrison Trion digital console. The M16 package was supplied by local Cadac distributor Dreamsound.

Commenting for the Yonsei Central Baptist Church, Sound Engineer Mr Park said: “Pastor Yoon has taken a lot of interest in the choice of audio system here, and it was vital that we used high performance microphone preamplifiers on all primary sources in order to provide the clear and intelligible reproduction required within a house of worship. We auditioned a variety of microphone preamps and were very impressed by the Cadac M16, which clearly provided superior audio performance. The other immediate benefit of using the M16 is that it has integrated seamlessly with our Harrison console, thanks to the standard MADI output on the M16. This has helped us to reduce infrastructure and copper cabling costs, simply connecting the M16 into the Harrison.”

Cadac's 16 channel M16 remote controlled microphone amplifier integrates 16 of Cadac's classic mic pre-amps into a 19” rack unit, providing 3 active splits per channel plus a MADI interface. The M16 builds on Cadac's 30+ years' history at the forefront of high-end professional audio development, and is a direct response to market demand for a high quality remote microphone amplifier for seamless interoperation with all marques of analogue and digital console.

Designed to address live, broadcast and recording market requirements, the M16 integrates directly with Cadac's new D16 Digital Matrix, and up to 16 M16 units can be controlled within a single system. A remote control option is available, via the Cadac RM16 Remote Control Unit, or via Cadac's industry-leading SAM software. The M16 demonstrates high headroom throughout the whole system, as well as an extended response frequency.

Each amplifier provides three active and balanced output splits, which negates the need and expense of additional equipment and real estate, also each amplifier is provided with an in-built switchable High Pass filter. All input stages are hand-tuned by Cadac's skilled engineers, providing optimal Common Mode Rejection, while output drivers are tuned to provide optimum balanced performance and the ability to drive over long cable runs in excess of 100m.
