Harlequin Exhibiting at PALA

British Harlequin plc will be 'on show' at PALA, Suntec, Singapore 14th to 16th July, showing a wide range of examples from their extensive range. Visitors will able to compare dance floor coverings and systems, plus there will be expert support on hand to provide guidance and advice.

Announcing new moves in Harlequin's growth as the global leader in dance floor technology, managing director Bob Dagger outlined the implementation of expansion plans in Australia and the Far East. “Awareness of Harlequin dance floors in the Far East has been patchy, but all that's about to change,” said Bob. “Michael Scobbie, who joined the company in January, leads a professional team busily campaigning for Harlequin in the principal oriental markets of China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. Michael plans to make Harlequin the household name for dance in these challenging markets by drawing on his extensive experience in the Far East, including having spent seven years operating a Singapore office. This daunting task is made somewhat easier by the partial translation into Mandarin Chinese of Harlequin's comprehensive website.”

Bob went on to say that: “Harlequin's floors are already well established in Korea, where the company is delighted to have appointed Universal Ballet as a distributor, and plans are also in hand to translate the website into Korean.'    “Changes are also afoot in Australia, where Harlequin Australasia Pty. Ltd. has been set up in partnership with Guenther Goetz, who has been Harlequin's distributor in Australia for some years. Guenther has made it quite clear that he is happy to have the Harlequin Australasia area of the website in English!” Bob concluded.

To underpin these new initiatives, Harlequin will be exhibiting at PALA 2005 in Singapore, showing Liberty sprung floor panels, its comprehensive range of portable and permanent vinyl floors and accessories.

Harlequin's world-wide operations serve the dance community at a number of levels with important recent projects including the new Copenhagen Opera House, the French National Dance Centre (CND) in Paris, Jazz at the Lincoln Center in New York and Laban in London.

Harlequin manufactures a comprehensive range of floorings for the performing arts from portable, roll-out floors to cushioned, heavy duty permanent floors, plus permanent and touring sprung floor systems. These are complemented by a range of accessories including tapes and cleaning products, roll straps, storage bags and an extensive range of ballet barres. A free 'Guide to Dance Floors' is available from Harlequin's web site http://www.harlequinfloors.com or can be requested at the show.
