Allen & Heath Supports Taiwan's Largest Rock Festival
Allen & Heath ML4000 and ML5000 VCA live sound consoles were used to manage both stages at Taiwan's biggest rock festival, the Gung-Liau Ho-Hai-Yan Festival, held in Taipei County.
Staged on Fulong beach, the three-day festival is renowned for promoting breaking young bands and new music, and featured performances from 54 national and international rock bands, making the annual rock festival Taiwan's foremost outdoor musical event. Organised by media company, Formosa TV (FTV), the free event attracted around 100,000 visitors, come to watch a variety of bands perform on the two stages.
A 64-channel ML5000 - comprising a 40-channel model with additional 24-channel sidecar - was installed to manage FOH sound on the main 'Yellow Sand' stage, where two Chinese groups (Black Panther and Tang Dynasty), five major Taiwanese rock bands and two Japanese acts (Spiral Monster and Goofy Style) performed. An ML4000 was selected to manage FOH on the second 'Shiny Stars' stage, which hosted around 30 Taiwanese bands.
The final day of the event is dedicated to the festival's trademark battle of the bands, featuring ten up-and-coming acts culled in regional competitions from a field of 146 entrants, culminating in a headline performance by last year's prize winner, Totem.
