PaintSpot: a Hard-Edged Brother for Elektralite’s Successful PaintCan
Elektralite has announced the launch of ‘PaintSpot’, an affordable colour-changing spot fixture, to complement the extremely popular ‘PaintCan’ flood released last autumn.
By using the same lamp types as its wide angle brother, either the economical GLA or GLC 3200K, and utilising a 24º beam angle and six-colour wheel (plus white), users have plenty of “light muscle” available to punch through the strongest colour washes - even in haze or fog. With two gobo wheels – one rotating and indexable, the other fixed, a myriad of dynamic effects can be created and played upon the chosen subject. And being interchangeable, gobos can be switched around or substituted with others from the large Elektralite collection. Add to this full electronic focusing, an iris and strobe facility and the number of possible effect combinations increases further still.
However, it’s not all brute force and dazzling effects, as the in-built dimmer offers accurate control of beam intensity from 0 to 100% for those requiring a little subtle lighting once in a while! Cooling is sensibly organised by either of three fan settings for super-quiet operation. DMX512 input and output is provided via standard 5-pin connectors, and the option of recording shows internally – for use in stand-alone applications where a separate controller is unnecessary – further adds to the fixture’s flexibility.
PaintSpot’s powerful feature set allows it to be used by designers working in any form of ‘architectural’ environment, such as shopping malls, retail stores and places of worship, where it is ideally suited to pick out building detail or provide intriguing effects – and just like its PaintCan brother, it is available in either black or white finish to suit most colour schemes. It is also suitable for use in traditional entertainment lighting applications as the main source of key and effects lighting in theatrical shows, rock concerts and exhibition schemes.
