NuQ Makes First Appearance in China at PALM Expo
The NuQ range from Turbosound will make its first official foray into China courtesy of distributor Phoenix Audio & Lighting Technology Ltd on Stand 4G60 at the PALM Expo 2007, held at CIEC in Beijing from 2-5 June.
Launched at Frankfurt ProLight + Sound in March, the versatility of the NuQ systems’ networkable sound reinforcement loudspeakers have already proved popular for both live and installation applications in the European market.
All models are available in passive or bi-amped (non-powered) guise, and alternatively with integrated Class D amplifiers using 96kHz DSP for pristine audio quality, and operating at better than 90% efficiency. The NuQ series totals 12 models and comprises 8”, 10”, 12” and 15” two way models all designed with similar voicing characteristics, as well as 15” and 18” subwoofers, in order to provide a complete and versatile loudspeaker range suitable for a wide range of applications.
Phoenix Audio is pulling out all the stops at PALM and its impressive 135m2 booth will host a selection of NuQ products, including the digitally compact NuQ-8 and multi-purpose NuQ-12, the passive NuQ-10 and bi-amped NuQ-15, plus the B15 reflex subwoofer and B18 bandpass subwoofer.
NuQ systems boast full networking capability, enabling users to control and monitor individual loudspeakers with a high degree of system security with a PC using Turbosound’s TurboDrive software over a BvNet network.
Also on show will be Turbosound’s groundbreaking and successful wide-dispersion TA-500 Aspect Wide full-range loudspeaker, with its complementary TSW-218 subwoofer.
Phoenix has already seen the benefit of Aspect Wide in Beijing’s Club Angel. The club’s proprietor owns various other venues that employ different audio systems, but after hearing Turbosound loudspeakers in another leading Beijing club, decided that Club Angel should benefit from Aspect Wide’s superior sound.
Accordingly, eight TA-500s – arranged in clusters of two at each corner of the dance floor, with the remaining four at the far side of the bar area to greet customers as they enter the club – and eight TSW-718 subs ably cover the main dance floor. Meanwhile the DJ booths employ TQ-310s paired with TSB-212s, with TQ-445s complimented by TSB-118s providing audio for the remaining areas of the venue. The entire system is run from Turbosound controllers with the TA-500s and TSW-718s run from T-25 and T-45 amplifiers respectively.
Finally, the award-winning Aspect TA-890 concert touring / festival system will also be making an appearance, as will a selection of Turbosound’s industry leading installation loudspeakers, including the TCS Compact series, the TSB-212 bandpass subwoofer and TCS-C50T ceiling speakers.
With European tours such as David Gilmour, Roger Waters, The Feeling, Kings Of Leon, Fall Out Boy, Imogen Heap, Primal Scream, the Magic Numbers, the Shadows and Darren Hayes already under its belt - not to mention highly successful festivals including Roskilde, the Jersey Festival and Nottingham’s Old Market Square - Aspect has proved time and again that a well designed and correctly deployed point-source loudspeaker system provides powerful, ultra-high fidelity and very controllable sound in a much wider range of venue types with flexibility that surpasses any line array’s capabilities.
Tim McCall, Turbosound’s Middle East and Asia Sales Manager, concludes: “This year’s PALM Expo looks to be our most successful yet. The relationship between Turbosound and Phoenix has proved extremely successful over the past four years, which is reflected in our incredible growth in the market.
“The recent opening of the new Phoenix Guangzhou office, with its training and demonstration facilities, further highlights the success and commitment to the Chinese market of both companies. We want to use the impressive new PALM Expo booth as an opportunity to invite Turbosound friends old and new to witness the exciting future we see in China.”
