Meyer Sound Brings UPJunior and Matrix3 to PALME Asia in Singapore

Meyer Sound’s expanded presence at the PALME Asia trade show (formerly known as PALA) in Singapore reflects the rapid development of the region’s AV installation and entertainment production industries. As East Asia invests heavily in top-quality hotels, theatres, convention centers, nightclubs, and sports arenas, the demand for high-quality audio has spurred strong interest in the full line of Meyer Sound products, which were on display July 12 –14.

Meyer Sound's newest product, the diminutive yet powerful UPJunior ultracompact VariO loudspeaker, was a highlight of the stand. UPJunior brings the rotatable horn and extreme flexibility of rigging and mounting first introduced in the UPJ-1P compact VariO loudspeaker (which was also be on display) to a smaller package that still delivers a hearty peak output of 126 dB SPL at 1 meter.

The LCS Series Matrix3 audio show control system, which lies at the heart of the audio systems for many Cirque du Soleil shows, was also a must-see attraction for audio professionals in Asia’s burgeoning theatrical and themed event markets. Meyer Sound personnel provided a guided, hands-on tour of the Matrix3’s powerful tools for automated audio playback, processing, mixing, routing and spatialization. Of particular interest was the Wild Tracks hard disk playback and SpaceMap multichannel panning features of Matrix3's CueStation control and programming environment.

The M'elodie ultracompact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker returns to PALME Asia after a phenomenally successful debut year in which it demonstrated that big sound can come from small packages. M'elodie's larger siblings in the MILO family of loudspeakers was also shown: the original MILO high power curvilinear array loudspeaker and the MICA compact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker. The M1D ultracompact curvilinear array loudspeaker, a perennial favorite when space is at an absolute premium, rounded out the line array solutions on display. The powerful new MJF-212A high-power stage monitor was on hand, as well as the UPA-1P compact wide coverage loudspeaker, the 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofer, and the 600-HP compact high-power subwoofer.

The Galileo loudspeaker management system and SIM3 audio analyzer was shown as well. The two systems integrate smoothly for comprehensive real-time analysis and control of sound systems. The Galileo system was running the recently released version 1.8 of its Compass control software. MAPP Online Pro acoustical prediction software, the front end of Meyer Sound's collection of tools for sound reinforcement professionals, was available for visitors to explore, too.

PALME Asia provided the production community in the fast-growing region with a close-up look at the latest and most popular of Meyer Sound's advanced technologies and comprehensive line of top-quality tools.
