Hong Kong Celebrates with Lighthouse Screens
Taking place in June and July respectively, two of Hong Kong’s highest profile events of 2007 used Lighthouse LED screens for stunning visual backdrops to celebrations of beauty and achievement.
With both events televised across the territory by its leading broadcaster Television Broadcasts Ltd. (TVB), the unparalleled image resolution and colour quality of the Lighthouse 6mm screens ensured that the visual impact was never less than one hundred percent!
Provided by Lighthouse’s rental partner AV Promotions, a vast 45 panels wide by 10 panels high (in meter28.8m x 4.8m) Lighthouse 6mm indoor screen was the centrepiece of a massive celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The event took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and featured performances by many well-known Hong Kong artists, such as singers / actors Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau alongside world-class Chinese performers including the famous pianist Lang Lang and Olympic 110 metre hurdles champion Liu Xiang. The climax of the event was brought by the honourable guest Mr. Hu Jin Tao, the State President of China, who was invited to the stage and sang a song with all performers.
The Lighthouse screen provided a dramatic backdrop to the various performances and appearances, displaying graphics and photographic images to complement each performance. Processing was from a Lighthouse LIP-KX.
Also provided by AV Promotions, 288 panels of Lighthouse 6mm indoor screen were used at the Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2007, which took place at Hong Kong Coliseum on July 21st.
With 16 contestants vying for the coveted title, the Lighthouse 6mm screen was configured as two 8 panels (W) by 18 panels (H) (5.12m x 8.64m) portrait format screens which, at certain points in the show, came together to form a single 16 panels (W) by 18 panel (H) screen.
Showing a mixture of graphics and still photography, the Lighthouse screens ensured that both the Coliseum audience and the millions watching the broadcast enjoyed the most visually spectacular Miss Hong Kong to date, which culminated in Kayi Cheung being crowned the winner.
“As well as the renowned reliability of Lighthouse screens, which is vitally important at such high profile events, our flagship 6mm screen looks equally good for live television audiences,” says Lighthouse managing director Mark Chan.
“The 6mm screen added a new dimension to these visually spectacular events and we are very pleased that Lighthouse products were chosen to be a key part of promoting Hong Kong’s continuing success story to literally millions of people.”
