Prolyte Supplies Hoists for 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games

The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games will be held in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, from 2-11 October 2007.

The event will mark the first time the World Summer Games will be held in Asia, and only the second time they will be held outside the United States. In addition to almost 7,500 athletes, Special Olympics expects the 2007 World Summer Games to draw 40,000 volunteers, 3,500 event officials and thousands of spectators and journalists from every continent. Special Olympics athletes of all ability levels will compete in 25 different Olympic-type and demonstration sports.

The Opening Ceremonies for the World Games will be produced by award-winning producer/director Don Mischer and take place in the 80,000-seat Shanghai Stadium.

Trinity Technology, responsible for the supply of technical equipment for the Opening Ceremonies, selected Prolyte Asia Pacific to supply Prolyft hoists for the rigging equipment. Over 260 hoists, in various types, are currently being installed in the new Shanghai Stadium.

A crew of trained technicians organised by Prolyte Asia Pacific and supervised by project director Abraham Tso offers support for the installation of the hoists.

As Menze van der Sluis, sales manager of Prolyte Asia states: “Even though this is a huge project for Prolyte Asia Pacific, we feel confident about this job. Alan KC Wong does a perfect job coordinating the project in Shanghai and further the support of Starship Engineering, one of our local Prolyft service points, and the technical backup from our headquarters is superb.

“Supplying the 260 hoists within the close timeframe was short of a logistic nightmare, but all the equipment arrived on time and in good order. The fact that we are able to offer sales support from our Asian office and local technical support and the fact that we can offer a lifetime guarantee, was one of the reasons why Prolyte Asia was selected for this job anyway.”
