Robert Juliat at the 2008 ASTRA Awards
A record 31 winners were honoured at subscription television's night of nights, the 6th Annual ASTRA Awards, at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on April 21st. The ASTRA Awards are produced by the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association, the peak industry body for subscription television.
More than 1000 people attended the gala event, created to recognise excellence in subscription television, both in front of - and behind - the cameras.
Bringing the award winners on to and across the stage to receive their awards, and highlighting the main acts, were three Robert Juliat 2500W HMI Heloise short throw followspots supplied by Chameleon Touring Systems and Show Technology.
The event was produced by Technical Productions with Keri Chittendon as event producer and Bill Ainley as production manager, whilst lighting for this spectacular event was designed by Hugh Taranto.
Hugh utilized a Show Technology dominated rig including 21 Martin MAC700 washes, 16 Martin MAC2000 washes and 28 Martin MAC700 spots plus two Studio Due Dominators for the after party walk. LED lighting included 46 ProShop LED Tubes, 22 Pulsar ChromaBanks which were modified for set installation, 16 Honeycomb72 LED Floods for the foyer wall, balloon and photo wall and 20 Martin LC2140 LED video panels to construct a 10m x 4m curved video screen.
