Sound.com Chooses XTA for Indian TV Shows

Fast-growing Indian production company SOL has contracted Mumbai-based Sound.com to provide audio services for two new high profile TV shows, Dhoom Macha De and Yeh Shaam Mastani, the stereo broadcast of which have XTA digital signal processing as a vital part of their equipment list.

Dhoom Macha De sees 11 of India's most popular, professional singers come together in one spectacular show to compete for the title of Best Live Performer. Hosted by the popular Malaika Arora Khan, the action packed show features energetic performances and special celebrity guests, with the contestants being judged by a panel of industry stalwarts, as well as the show's viewers.

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment's Yeh Shaam Mastani, which launched at the beginning of May and will be aired every Friday and Saturday evening, is described as a musical journey, with seven of India's best loved singers each performing some of their greatest hits and getting up-close and personal with the studio and television audiences.

"With the advent of television being broadcast in stereo, and the need for no-nonsense audio quality and recording standards for televised events, Sound.com has been receiving a lot of enquiries from TV production houses" says Warren D'Souza, founder of Sound.com.

"Although we have always been the preferred choice for live TV entertainment, making a clean sweep of all the television awards and large stage shows in India, we are happy to be gaining a strong foothold in the studios as well."

Unlike regular television shows, most of the artists featured on Dhoom Macha De and Yeh Shaam Mastani are acclaimed musicians and are very particular about the way they sound both in the studio and on air. "Providing the audio requirements for each artist is like preparing a fine dining meal," asserts D'Souza. "Our company ethos is to satisfy clients by catering to those specialized needs. Of course, we're able to support such claims thanks to our top-notch grade of equipment and excellent engineering team."

In line with this ethos, loudspeaker management for both shows has been entrusted to XTA DP448 digital signal processors a product that D'Souza and his team have been utilizing for some time. "We went with the good old AudioCore software and XTA DP448s for loudspeaker management," continues D'Souza. "It's a tried and tested product for us. We know we can rely on it and there will never be any compromise in audio quality."

"India is a market that is developing at an incredible speed," concludes XTA sales director, Bill Woods. "It's great to see that one of our long-standing customers is doing such great work with XTA equipment."
