Beijing Celebrates First Olympics Anniversary with L-Acoustics Kudo

Beijing has celebrated the first anniversary of the Olympic Games with a large-scale performance entitled Blue Fantasy. The performance debuted at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing center, where stunning sea views rivalled the great sound courtesy of the L-Acoustics Kudo line source system, supplied to the venue by Chinese distributor Rightway Audio.
The system was deployed in left and right hangs of six Kudo cabinets and two SB28 high-power subwoofers each side, with a center cluster of six dV-DOSC modular line source cabinets. A further four dV-DOSC cabinets were used for downfill. Meanwhile, 12 8XT compact coaxials were used for left, right and rear surround, with eight 12XT high performance coaxials as stage monitor. The whole system was powered by four LA4 and eight LA8 amplified controllers.
"I'm very familiar with L-Acoustics cabinets as I have used them many times," says FOH engineer Mr He Biao. "They always deliver high performance levels for every show, which I find really impressive. I like the three-way, quad-amplified design of the Kudo system, which delivers clarity, precision, and intelligibility for vocal material, giving a unique near-field perception and an incomparable listening experience. Thanks to the Kudo system, we have all enjoyed a great performance of Blue Fantasy."
The performance, which had a romantic and mystical flavour, formed part of 2009 Qingdao International Marine Festival and comprised five sections. Sunlight Beach showcased the beach lifestyle that Qingdao citizens enjoy; Underwater World was a hi-tech interpretation of Qingdao's magical underwater scenery; Grandeurs Lao Mountain showcased the Lao Mountain culture; Beer Carnival demonstrated the ardor and hospitability of Quingdao's population while drawing on naval themes; and Sailing to Blue Sea depicted Qingdao's cityscapes and shining future.
