Audience Systems Make A Big Impression

Visitors to this year’s ABTT show had a larger-than-life experience when they visited the stand of seating manufacturer Audience Systems Ltd. The exhibit, which won the award for best stand, featured a huge auditorium chair made in the company’s Westbury factory.

Marketing manager Nina Simpson said: “We wanted to have some fun with our stand this year but also show people what we can do. We worked with clients and consultants to create custom designs for theatres and this is based very much on the same principles.”

The chair’s measurements were twice those of a standard chair, making it eight times the size in three dimensions. Perched on its arm was a scaled-down version fit for a doll’s house, painstakingly created by model-maker James Humphrey.

During his visit to the show, Prince Edward took the time to admire the giant exhibit. “He certainly seemed amused by the chair, “ said sales director Mark Cowley, “and he asked us about some of the prestigious projects we have worked on such as the Royal Albert and Glyndebourne Opera House.”

The stand also featured Audience Systems’ latest chair for multipurpose auditoria, the Lyceum. This innovative new design gives theatres and auditoria the chance to exploit the flexibility of a telescopic platform system while offering their audience a seat of exceptional quality. The chair features broad armrests and generous padding; its secret lies in the unique fold-down mechanism which allows the chair to fold down neatly onto the deck before the tiering retracts.

The show was a great success for Audience Systems with plenty of visitors to the stand – even if some just stopped by to admire the oversized chair.
