Community to Launch iBOX and iFR Series Loudspeakers at Frankfurt

Community have chosen Pro Light + Sound in Frankfurt for the European launch of the new iBOX range of installation loudspeakers, offering a straightforward approach to implementing arrays, clusters and distributed systems with just two sizes of discrete enclosures.

iBOX HP1200 Series combines a high-power 12-inch mid/bass driver with a 2.87-inch voice coil HF (1.4-inch exit) on a large format horn, providing uniform pattern control. Offering precise coverage and arrayability are six models: iHP1244 (40x40), iHP1264 (60x40), iHP1266 (60x60), iHP1294 (90x40), iHP1296 (90x60), iHP1299 (90x90). Each of the full-range cabinets can be used in bi-amp or passive mode and operates from 60Hz to 18kHz with power handling of 600W continuous. For systems requiring greater LF extension Community provides the i112S (1x12-inch) and i212S (2x12-inch) subs in the same 1200 Series dimensions, allowing aesthetically pleasing clusters with any cabinet combination.

The six models in the iBOX HP 1500 Series offer the same six rotatable HF horn options within the iHP1544, iHP1564, iHP1566, iHP1594, HP1596 and iHP1599. These are combined with a high-power 15-inch mid/bass driver in a slightly larger enclosure, which extends the LF response to 45Hz. As with the 1200 Series, two same-dimension subs are available to provide greater LF power and extension for larger systems — the i115S (1x15-inch) and i215S (2x15-inch).

The four subs in the iBOX Series use Community’s patented Cool-Coil LF drivers, which reduces power compression resulting in greater output in high SPL applications. All iBOX enclosures are constructed from rugged 13-ply Baltic birch and finished with Community’s ultra-durable, smooth TufCoat. The enclosures incorporate 23 x load-rated M10 rigging points and 4 x M8 Omnimount 120 inserts in the rear of the enclosure. Simple and flexible installation is achieved using optional yoke, cluster and array hardware from the extensive range designed specifically to suit all configurations of the iBOX Series.

Also new at Pro Light + Sound are the iFR Series of installation loudspeakers. The iFR Series are designed for full-range distributed, cluster and array configurations in churches, auditoriums, nightclubs, sport arenas, stadium and convention centers. High efficiency, tightly controlled dispersion, excellent projection and extended smooth frequency response are combined to give high intelligibility, high fidelity speech and music for short, medium and long-throw applications.

The 10 full-range models are 3-way tri-amplified systems using twin high power cast-frame 12-inch bass units, the highly acclaimed 2-inch M200 low-compression, non-metallic midrange unit and a 2-inch UC2 low-compression, non-metallic high frequency unit. Twin UC2 HF units are used in the iFR31 for long-throw applications and twin M200 MF units are used in the iFR52 for long-throw voice critical applications. All drive units are horn-loaded in a precision hand-laminated fiberglass proprietary waveguide in a tri-axial configuration.

   Dispersion characteristics of each model are designed to combine in configurations customized to the venue and consist of the iFR31 (30 x 10 degrees symmetrical), iFR34A (30 x 40 degrees asymmetrical/downfill), iFR34S (30 x 40 degrees symmetrical), iFR 52 (50 x 20 degrees symmetrical), iFR64A (60 x 40 degrees asymmetrical/downfill), iFR64S (60 x 40 degrees symmetrical), iFR 77 (70 x 70 degrees symmetrical) and iFR94 (90 x 40 degrees symmetrical), iFR474 (40°-70° X 40° degrees asymmetrical), iFR694 (60° x 90° x 40° asymmetrical).

The iFR474 (40 x 40 to 70 degrees) iFR694 (60 x 40 to 90 degrees) offer unique asymmetrical coverage patterns for medium throw applications with dead-hung arrays. In the iFR474 the horizontal coverage varies from 40 degrees wide on loudspeaker axis to 70 degrees wide at 40 degrees below the loudspeaker axis, providing more uniform depth and breadth of coverage and minimizing near-to far SPL variation. In the iFR694 the horizontal coverage is 40 degrees on loudspeaker axis to 90 degrees at 60 degrees below the loudspeaker axis.

There are three subs to complement the full-range systems. The iSS215 dual 15 and the iSS118 single 18-inch use trapezoidal enclosures of the same size as the full-range cabinets, for use in clusters and arrays requiring flown-bass. These can be combined to great effect using the high-impact punch of the iSS215 with the true low end of the iSS118 or used individually according to the LF requirement of the application. The iLF218 uses twin high-power 18-inch units sub-bass drivers in a rectangular enclosure, ideal for very high SPL from a ground-stack location.

The 13-ply, 18mm Baltic Birch cabinets are finished in ultra-durable TufCoat™ and incorporate a comprehensive arrangement of inserts and optional hardware is available to complete the installation in the required configuration.

The final new product at Frankfurt is the M12 Left, a mirror image of the standard M12 floor monitor. Since its introduction, the Community M12 has become a standard for many touring systems, houses of worship, broadcasters and stage productions. Providing controlled coverage and high output, the M12 is also chosen for its curved, low profile design, which offers an alternative to traditional wedges when aesthetics are important.

Corporate director of sales and marketing, Larry Howard, explains: “M12’s audio quality and discreet appearance have established it in leading market sectors where artists and presenters require a wider vertical ‘sweet spot’, which also extends deeper into the stage without excessive horizontal energy spillage. Mirrored stage monitors are increasingly becoming a rider requirement and M12’s provide this capability coupled with an extremely low-profile and unique pattern control that isn’t available in any other floor monitor.”

At 10.5 inches high the M12 operates from 55 Hz - 18 kHz with program power handling of 750W. The 2-way, bass-ported system houses a 12-inch woofer and a two-inch exit compression driver coupled to a horizontally and vertically asymmetrical horn.

The Community display at Pro Sound + Light also includes a comprehensive selection of the companies existing products, including I/O indoor/outdoor loudspeakers, Cloud ceiling loudspeakers, R Series and Wet Series all-weather loudspeakers, MVP Series ll Stage systems, Tandem Drive 2 portable systems and the highly acclaimed DXP4800 4 x 8 matrix Digital System Controller.
