Video/Node from ADB

ADB has recently introduced Video/Node, an Ethernet to Video Interface which allows for the connection two additional physical VGA screens to a Mentor or Phoenix XT lighting console. Until now this was only possible with the ADB propriety software - WIN/MON that is available free of charge on the original ISIS+ software CD, supplied with each ADB console or downloadable from the ADB website.

Video/Node is a hardware solution that no longer requires an external Windows PC to display multiple monitors. The compact housing 1/2 19" format is equipped with an Artnet Ethernet interface and USB connections that permit plug and play connection to a control Network. The unit is further equipped with diagnostic LED displays and has a built in onboard power supply. The standalone unit can be placed next to the console and will allow the operator to have more simultaneous information on additional screens, or it can also be placed on a remote location in the theater or studio allowing the lighting designer to view any of the up to eight possible screens originating from the Phoenix console or up to four screens on a Mentor console.

For more flexible installations Video/Node can also work without any physical cable connection to the lighting desk thanks to an optional Compact Flash Wireless LAN card that inserts into the side of the unit. This option allows for very flexible temporary installations, where information on the show content and current operations is needed during setup for example.

All ADB Ethernet components such as Netport, WIFI/Remote and also Video/Node are automatically detected by the ISIS + Software in the Network Node setup menu. The operator can decide in the setup which options he chooses to use in the Subnet the lighting desk is working in. ADB control systems allow for a total of 16 Subnets to be assigned all working independently on the same physical Ethernet cable Network. This allows for very flexible multi-control installations and at the same time economises on the hardware and cable installation in the venue.

Video/Node is a useful option for Mentor consoles and also other ADB control desks operating under the ISIS+ LINUX software, whenever large amounts of information are needed to be displayed to operators, lighting designers, stage-manages and other people involved in the creation of the lighting.
