Allen & Heath Transforms Venue into a Gem

Allen & Heath Transforms Venue into a Gem

With assistance from the Kings Cross Partnership - a local chamber of commerce initiative to assist businesses as part of the regeneration of the area, the result is a swanky split-level club/café/restaurant.

"Kings Cross Partnership contributed with experts who helped with interior design, operational workflows and maximising the effectiveness of our limited space," comments owner Charlie Saleh. "The result is magnificent."

"The last thing we were prepared to compromise on was audio," he continues. "Let's face it, audio is one of the key components in the vibe and feel of a place. Even if you were tempted to, skimping on audio quality is commercial suicide. People know the difference."

The separate zones and multi-functional operation of the Sapphire Club is managed by Allen & Heath's DR66 digital signal processor. With a little programming and volume and equalisation experimentation, the stored settings now enable bar staff to move between venue applications, from coffee shop, to sophisticated café, to dining room, to club - complete with an Allen & Heath Xone:62 DJ mixer - all at the push of a carefully labelled button.

Martin Audio speakers are used throughout the venue, with amplification from QSC.

The system was designed by Anthony Russo of Technical Audio Group, with installation and set-up by DMC. "With the Sapphires' superb interior design our objective was to produce great sound but visually stay out of the way," commented Russo.
