Klotz Introduces MI(C)XER Integrable Automatic Mic Mixer

Klotz Digital has announced the release of the fully automatic microphone mixer MI[C]XER. The Vadis based unit meets the needs of radio stations that specialize in news and talk radio formats or offer periodically-broadcasted round table programs.

MI[C]XER can be perfectly used in conference centres, meeting rooms and for panel discussions, simplifying the normally complicated process of handling of multi-microphone signals. It eases the production of round table discussions and talk shows and reduces the work of audio engineers in general. It offers an unparalleled ease of use while providing distinctly improved audio quality. Additionally, customers will reduce cost, since integration of third-party equipment becomes obsolete. The first MI[C]XER was recently installed at Putrajaya Convention Centre and is used in all halls and meeting rooms, including two exhibition halls, banquet hall, plenary hall and more then 20 meeting rooms.

Up to 40 mono or stereo line levels inputs or microphone channels are automatically mixed. Each channel provides an individual level meter for exact level control and offers adjustment to parameters like Pre-Gain, Threshold, Attenuation or Attack and Release-Time. Equalizers and Dynamics can also be inserted in any signal path.

MI[C]XER also allows to determine a permanent main or presenter microphone which has overall priority. Microphones that are temporarily not in use or beyond the number of predetermined open microphones are muted in order to avoid too many participants speak simultaneously and eliminates additional noise from open microphone channels. Especially under difficult room acoustic conditions, audio quality and intelligibility during multi-microphone recording are significantly enhanced.

The complete group of microphones is operated via one single fader of the mixing console. MI[C]XER is controlled and set up by an easy-to-use software GUI also enabling to remote control via LAN or modem any single microphone.

Because MI[C]XER is a Vadis integrated software-based solution it is extremely cost effective. It can either be used as a stand-alone tool or can be implemented into all products and solutions that are used in connection with Vadis, such as Varizone, Aeon, DiAN Routers and Vadis D.C II consoles and networks.
