New Condenser Microphones from beyerdynamic

Beyerdynamic will be launching two new condenser microphones at Pro Light+Sound 2006 on their booth D51 in Hall 4.1.

The MC 840 is a large diaphragm studio microphone built around the top of the line MC 740 capsule, but with the added improvement of a transformer less low-noise pre-amplifier, all housed in the more compact design of the MC834. The diaphragm is of the highest quality - a double gold vaporised design that produces a true flat response across the whole frequency range, regarded by many top engineers as the best sounding studio microphone bar none. The MC840 also features a selectable 5 way polar patterns switch for omni directional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid and figure-eight. In addition, the MC 840 has two roll-off filters, 80 and 160 Hz and a two-stage pre-attenuation of -10 and -20 dB.

The new MC 840 is ideal for recording lead vocals, drum overheads or in fact any instrument that requires a balanced warm sound, with a true top end.

The CK 930 set is the solution to an old problem: the need of a quality condenser sound without having a large microphone present at the source position. The CK 930 set’s unique approach utilises a remote capsule at the source position and a preamp, connected by a cable and situated at a more convenient position out of sight. In practice, this is a great convenience for many applications including TV and filming, lecterns, pulpits, choirs and instruments such as violins and acoustic guitars. The CK 930 remote capsule has been optimised for maximum rejection of extraneous sound and has an excellent directional response for a clear, yet warm and natural, sound.

In high sound pressure level situations a pre-attenuation of -15 dB can be selected with the CV 900 pre-amplifier offering a transformer less low-noise pre-amplifier and selectable bass roll-off filter of 6 dB/octave at 250 Hz. The frequency response of this unit is 40-20,000 Hz with an impressive signal-to-noise ratio of 71dB.

Accepting a wide range of voltage, between 11 and 52V, to drive the phantom, ensures it also very suitable for installations and live applications. In short, the CK 930 set has a big sound with a small physical appearance.
