LSC Hits the High-notes with Opera Australia
When it was time for Opera Australia to take the plunge and purchase a Wireless Solutions W-DMX system, they turned directly to LSC Lighting Systems. Opera Australia regularly runs shows on a revolving stage, which is a perfect application for a W-DMX system. This reliable, compact and easy-to-use wireless DMX512 solution has quietly revolutionised Opera Australia’s technical department, opening up shows to a new era in data transmission.
“In the past we’ve had data supplied through slip rings which was rather unreliable,” explained Colin Alexander, head of lighting for Opera Australia. “Now we just have power supply to the slip rings and supply the data using radio DMX. We’re finding the W-DMX system brilliant with absolutely no problems at all. It’s very straightforward: turn the power on, two units sync them up and away they go. We power them down every day when the revolver is disconnected, power them back up and it hasn’t blinked once.
Opera Australia has a W-DMX system operating in Melbourne, linking to several moving lights, the system has been a life-saver encountering no problems.
The great thing about W-DMX is that it saves time and money, allowing point-to-point and point-to-multi point installations. Any fixtures that understand the DMX protocol, like moving lights and dimmers can be operated with W-DMX, while retaining the same speed and accuracy as cable transmission. Best of all there are no settings to be made to the system for its operation, it is plug’n’play in its truest form.
