Richmond Sound Design Releases SoundMan Designer Software

Richmond Sound Design Ltd. (RSD) is has announced the release and first sales of their brand new SoundMan-Designer software. For a fraction of the cost, SoundMan-Designer duplicates the functions of our award winning AudioBox model AB1616 Theatre Sound and Show Controller, of which hundreds are still in constant use worldwide in theatres, theme parks, cruise ships, museums and displays. SoundMan-Designer provides a simple and logical upgrade path as new versions can be downloaded at any time.

SoundMan-Designer Windows software uses any standard ASIO audio interface to provide 16 live inputs, 16 outputs and 16 tracks of playback, exactly as AudioBox users have enjoyed for over a decade. Included is an enormous range of audio and show control capabilities, all in real time. Up to 12 bands of parametric EQ, five seconds of delay, automatic fades, mutes, solos, submastering and volume linking are available in every input and output channel.

A 16 by 16 matrix with dynamic and programmable full crossfade capabilities interfaces inputs to outputs and all audio selections can be played synchronously or asynchronously with random access real time triggering. External MIDI control of submasters and cue triggering is standard and a powerful multi-cue-list show controller and cue editing functions are included with the ability to store an unlimited number of shows, cues and automated moves. Shows written for the AudioBox can be instantly imported and run by SoundMan-Designer, giving the user a new and cost effective way to produce and update established shows as well as creating exciting new ones.

There is even a free version which has two live audio inputs, two outputs and four playbacks and still includes the fully functional show controller, cue triggering and hotkeys for instant stereo spot effects and small audio installations. This version is also perfect for demonstration and offline programming because it fully emulates all the other channels and controls.

SoundMan-Designer has now been installed at Det Norske Teatret, Oslo, Norway, The Manchester Library Theatre, Manchester, UK, Zanesville Community Theatre, Zanesville, Ohio, and New York City College of Technology, Brooklyn, New York. Carl Underwood, lighting and sound designer in Zanesville, Ohio, says: "SoundMan-Designer finally puts the power of an AudioBox into the hands of

organizations both large and small in an affordable, scalable package!"

SoundMan-Designer is the first commercial product based on SoundMan-Server, RSD’s Virtual Sound System (VSS) software. This is as much a revolutionary development in the ever evolving sound control world as the AudioBox when it received the prestigious Themed Entertainment Association's THEA 'Breakthrough Technology' Award and TCI Magazine's 'Sound Product of the Year' Award. SoundMan-Server is an Applications Programming Interface (API) and also an IBM Business Partner Application Solution which will be the basis of many future RSD and third party applications.

RSD, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, develops and manufactures sound and show control systems and software used in museums, theme parks, entertainment venues, attractions and theatrical applications around the world.
