Arena Seating, part of the Arena Group, has just launched its unique clearview parabolic seating system. It is a ground-breaking demountable system designed to offer uninterrupted sight lines for every audience member.

Clearview is the first system of its kind, a parabolic reconfigurable seating design that allows each row of seats to be altered to deliver optimum sightlines for different events or venues. For event organisers in live music, stadia and sporting events, the system also affords the flexibility to increase capacity in restricted areas, while offering audiences a better view in comfort.

Unique? Well, most techniques in auditorium design have been done before, usually by the Greeks and Romans, who sculpted auditoriums into hillsides and shaped them for the best sightlines and acoustic properties. But they couldn’t offer much in flexibility, and this is where Arena Seating’s new system is unique.

Clearview is the result of three years’ research and development by the company’s team of product development engineers and it has involved an investment programme of over £500,000.

In technical terms the system represents the first time C-values, the universal measurement system for sight lines, can be tailored to suit individual events. Clearview exploits an innovative system of variable geometry to create the parabolic profile essential to guarantee a great view of the action, achieving optimum C-values even from 68 rows back.

Designed to be eco-efficient and environmentally friendly, with aluminum recyclable components, the system is remarkably compact and lightweight, reducing storage and transport needs, fuel costs and the overall carbon footprint. Features also include a maximum comfort seat, complete with optional cup holders, and interchangeable with media tables, disabled and hospitality features.

Clearview offers a range of seating options designed specifically for use on demountable systems. When not in use the Clearview seat folds automatically into the smallest of envelopes and its 50cm width combined with the 80cm row depth, provides very comfortable and safe access and egress along the seatway. In fact, the entire Clearview system is designed specifically to be highly compact when transported or stored.

Arena Seating’s international sales and marketing director John Poyner (pictured) explained: “At the core of clearview is some relatively simple but highly ingenious engineering. This is a demountable seating solution that delivers comparable comfort and viewing quality to permanent stadia seating. We have created the world’s first demountable parabolic seating system that can be configured to provide optimum sightlines for any events.”

The launch event at Arena’s head office early thus month showcased a Clearview grandstand to clients ranging from representatives of LOCOG 2012 (in anticipation of the London Olympics) to international architects and sporting organisers, and the response was overwhelming.

As John Poyner said: “We have been excited about officially launching Clearview since our first sale to the Royal Dublin Society was such a success, with the installation of some 12,500 seats.

“The launch brought together our current clients to experience Clearview and understand what it will mean for stadiums, arenas and events in the future.”

During the three-day launch event, Arena Seating has agreed a contract to supply 4,500 Clearview seats to Rang Eins, a new seating rental business based in Berlin, Germany. The company’s founder, Gerd Salewski has many years experience supplying prestigious events. Before investing in new equipment, he reviewed the best available on the international marketplace, and agreed to invest in the Clearview system as the flagship tiered seating for his clients.
