W-DIM From RC4 Wireless Joins W-DMX OEM Programme

RC4 Wireless, a Toronto-based manufacturer of wireless low voltage dimming systems and DMX distribution, has launched a new W-DMX enabled product line fittingly called W-DIM. The W-DIM products bring W-DMX connectivity to a complete system for low voltage battery operated lighting, motors, and more.

W-DIM builds on RC4 Wireless' successful systems that have proven themselves in a wide variety of applications from mega productions by Cirque du Soleil to shows at the Radio City Music Hall in New York and the Barbican in London. RC4 Wireless has built a well deserved reputation for providing systems meeting the particular demands of entertainment lighting and offer complete packages including proper batteries, cables, and connecters that are required for a reliable implementation. RC4 Wireless and James David Smith, president of the company, also pride themselves in excellent personalised pre- and post-sales support for their products.

The first W-DIM for W-DMX product will operate from 6V to 30VDC and provide four outputs of 200W each in a small and compact package. W-DIM uses a high-efficiency switching power supply and high frequency PWM dimming resulting in minimal heat and power loss. Dimmer outputs feature thermal and overload protection and under most fault conditions individual dimmers will disable themselves until the problem is corrected.

“W-DIM is an excellent way to add wireless dimming to an existing Wireless Solutions W-DMX system,” says Smith and adds, “We have almost two decades of expertise in making high-quality low-noise dimmers particularly suited for wireless dimming in compact enclosures. W-DMX receivers are highly robust, making them an ideal candidate for the demands of wireless dimming.”

“We are very excited that RC4 Wireless and James have joined our rapidly growing W-DMX OEM programme with their W-DIM product. Battery operated low voltage lighting, including LEDs, seems to be in almost every show these days. We are delighted that that market now has a choice, W-DIM, combining the strength of our W-DMX technology and the great systems and support provided by the company,” says Hans Lau, president of Wireless Solution of America.

With the agreement, RC4 Wireless joins the growing group of W-DMX OEM partners including SGM, DTS, Clay Paky, Lightronics, Doug Fleenor Design, Antari, and LSC Lighting, among others.

W-DMX is the perfect solution for applications where running DMX cable is not practical. W-DMX technology uses Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) and Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum to avoid interference. Critics worldwide have hailed the system as the number one product for interference-free wireless DMX technology.

W-DMX by Wireless Solution Sweden AB is the only system on the market for Wireless DMX that has received awards on both side of the Atlantic Ocean, first at PLASA 2004 and then again at LDI 2005 in Orlando. Most recently, W-DMX “outshone the rest” in an independent wireless shootout held by Lighting & Sound International magazine. It has been used in high profile projects all over the world, including the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, 2006 Nobel Prize Banquet, the World Cup Opening Ceremonies and Cirque du Soleil’s Delirium show.
