Tannoy Launches VNET - Active V-Series with DSP and Network Control
All VNET models are supplied with the active speaker system fully optimised; requiring only room equalisation to finalise the set up. Room EQ is simplified via user accessible signal processing based on the latest third generation SHARC DSP that can be used in place of an upstream speaker management system. Using free network topology, which does not suffer the distance limitations of traditional Ethernet based networks, individual speakers can be linked together with Category 5 cable in a daisy chain, star layout, or a combination of both. Included software facilitates real-time control as well as diagnostics and monitoring of all vital system parameters such as amplifier temperature, driver status and input / output metering. The fully integrated system within each speaker negates the need for an amplifier-rack room to be incorporated within the venue.
Tannoy VNET’s integrated Class D power amplification with switched mode power supply, is very efficient, flexible and reliable. Delivering 800Watts output per channel, dependant on model, the only surface area needed for cooling is the small control panel on the rear of the cabinet. Even when driven at very high power levels, no fans are required so the system runs quietly and is not prone to internal dust contamination. The auto ranging power supply automatically detects and configures the system to the supplied voltage.
At the heart of all VNET models is the Tannoy Dual Concentric drive unit. By placing the high frequency drive unit physically inside the low frequency driver Tannoy engineers have created a true point source that exhibits constant directivity and unparalleled linearity. In particular the ‘Dual’s’ linear phase response makes it an ideal choice for the application of digital signal processing as found in the VNET range. The exceptional performance characteristics and constant refinement of this famous drive unit since its inception nearly six decades ago has ensured its standing as a natural choice for industry professionals world wide.
With four bi-amped full range models and three subwoofers in the VNET range there is ample depth in the line to satisfy a vast range of sound reinforcement applications; houses of worship, performing arts centres, theme parks, leisure venues, sports and multi-use stadiums. The fully integrated VNET package also ideally lends itself to corporate AV and ‘dry hire’ rental situations; in fact any location where there is a critical demand for accurate, high performance audio. Models, developed from the popular Tannoy V-series range include VNET 12, VNET 12HP, VNET 15 and VNET 300; along with three subwoofers - VNET 15BP, VNET 15HL and VNET 18DR.
VNET will be officially launched at PLASA 2005
