Cadac adds MADI Merge Unit to Digital Series M16 Mic Pre-Amp
Cadac's new X16 MADI Merge Unit is now in production, designed for integrated operation with the M16 Remote Controlled Microphone Amplifier.
Cadac Electronics plc has augmented its 19" rack-mounted Digital Series product range with the X16 MADI Merge Unit, which is now shipping. Designed to provide an elegant solution to the integration of multiple M16 Remote Controlled Microphone Amplifiers/Stage Racks, the X16 combines the 16-channel MADI streams from four individual M16s into a single 56- or 64-channel MADI stream.
A 1U rack mount unit, the X16 is designed for either 48kHz or 96kHz operation, in Standard or Extended MADI modes, enabling 56/28 and 64/32 channel operation. Each unit can receive four optical SC input 16-channel MADI streams (from M16s or other MADI devices), combine the channels into a single 56/64 channel stream and route this stream to eight outputs (four SC Optical connections and four Coaxial BNC connections).
With the arrival of the X16, Cadac now offers a series of system packages for 64- or 32-channel systems, integrating multiple M16s, a RM16 Remote Controller and the X16 - all housed in a shock-mount flight case with power distribution and internal interconnect cables. This system offers both a 3-way analogue and 8-way digital signal distribution system, resulting in a versatile package that can distribute audio in a wide spectrum of live sound and broadcast applications - FOH, monitoring, DAW live acquisition, plus feeds to OB vehicles, live to air consoles, production consoles, and in-house routing systems. The M16/X16 combination also provides an alternative front-end option for remote and fixed recording systems, underlining its application flexibility.
An additional mode enables the X16 to operate independently of the M16s, providing up to four 1 in/2 out distribution amplifiers. This feature enables four independent optical MADI streams (of up to 64 channels each) to be made available on both an optical and coaxial output connector, and is an ideal choice for any space-conscious installation that requires multiple MADI interface conversions or additional routing capability.
