d&b\'s Uncomplicated Lines for Communication at InfoComm 2008

The colorful yet clean lines of the d&b audiotechnik stand were the metaphorical setting for some equally clean and uncomplicated additions to d&b's E-Series range of loudspeaker systems designed with the world of AV in mind. The new lightweight D6 amplifier complimented these loudspeakers as well as the R70 Ethernet to CAN interface. Running in parallel across the hall, four seminar sessions were conducted daily.

These new multipurpose loudspeakers are all about lightness and power; the E8, E12 and E12-D all combine acoustically superb polyurethane hard foam cabinets with high efficiency coaxial LF/HF drivers at their heart. Designed for use as stand alone full-range loudspeakers, any of these models can be integrated into d&b's larger systems without compromise to performance. All three models have horns that rotate through 90°, with patterns of 90° x 50°, 80° x 50°, 110° x 50° (h x v) and high power ratings of 129 dB, 134 dB and 133 dB SPL respectively, and yet none exceeds 36 lbs. With the addition of the E15X subwoofer the bandwidth can be extended down to 40 Hz.

The new D6 amplifier weighing in at less than 18 lbs combines physical lightness and audio power; two channels of 600 W into 4 ohms make for a highly versatile class D amplifier. On-board DSP capabilities, identical to the D12 amplifier, mean the D6 is capable of running all d&b loudspeaker configurations with the exception of the B2 subwoofer and active two-way boxes. Besides the expected functions of delay and EQ, the D6 also features System check and Load and Input monitoring for installation applications where IEC 60849 compliance is required for emergency loudspeaker systems.

The R70 Ethernet to CAN interface not only enables the integration of d&b systems into existing Ethernet networks but enables wireless control from just one laptop. d&b's US Head of Sales and resident remote systems specialist, William Cornell commented: "Integrators visiting InfoComm told us the easy assimilation of d&b sound systems into complex or simple multimedia environments is an invaluable tool for them. The efficiency and benefits of the existing d&b Remote control network is well known to system users worldwide; the addition of long distance remote control of d&b amplifiers via Ethernet makes the final link in the chain."

Roger Keim, d&b's recently appointed head of marketing in the US commented: "This year's seminars were tailored to those who know us, and essentiallistening for those who wanted to know what all the fuss is about. 'Toolsfor Audio' supplied quality intelligence on correct system selection and deployment; 'E-Series systems' was precisely that, whilst the fine tuning expertise offered in the 'd&b Remote network' session surprised even some of our existing customers. Concluding the first two days was 'Hear here', where everyone got to play with and listen to the systems, which proved a real blast."
