Laban Wins Architecture's Prestigious Stirling Prize
Nine months on and the Laban Dance Centre is still creating a great deal of media attention. It was a major project for British Harlequin plc who provided dance floors in all studios, plus the theatre stage and special floors in the facility. Laban featured in a special Channel 4 broadcast when the architects Herzog & de Meuron won the Stirling Prize.
The announcement on RIBA's web site include the following: “Laban Dance Centre in London by Herzog & de Meuron has won this year's RIBA Stirling Prize in association with The Architects' Journal. The presentation of the UK's premier architectural award took place at a glittering award ceremony at the science centre, Explore @ Bristol, and was broadcast on Channel 4's ‘Building of the Year’ programme.”
