Audio Visual Consultants Joins Electrosonic Group

Audio Visual Consultants (AVC) of Edinburgh and Electrosonic Ltd have announced that AVC has become a member of the Electrosonic Group.

Audio Visual Consultants was founded in 1981 by Sandy Bolton in Edinburgh, and recently has operated as a partnership with the active partners being Douglas Bolton, Mike Buchan and Les Bushby. Over the years AVC has gained an excellent reputation as Scotland’s leading AV systems integrator in the heritage market, and as an important supplier and integrator in the corporate and educational markets. AVC also has a significant service business.

Recently the partners in AVC decided that they could serve the needs of their market better as part of a larger group – at the same time Electrosonic Ltd was looking for ways in which it could expand its geographical coverage. Because the companies know each other well, having traded together since AVC’s founding, their coming together is a natural fit.

While AVC will become part of the Electrosonic Ltd business, it will retain both its identity and its staff. The Electrosonic connection will bring a substantial increase in resources, allowing AVC to carry out larger projects, and to extend its service offering.

Douglas Bolton, senior partner of AVC, who will continue to manage the AVC operation within Electrosonic, says: “We are excited by the new opportunities that Electrosonic will bring us. We want to ensure that we offer the Scottish market what it needs from within Scotland – but we also want it to benefit from the resources and international experience of the Electrosonic Group.”

David Ambrose, director of Electrosonic Ltd’s sService business says: “We have been looking for ways to improve our coverage and to extend our contract service business. Teaming up with AVC is an excellent move for us, and greatly improves the service we can offer our customers in Scotland.”

Kevin Murphy, director of Electrosonic Ltd’s Systems Business commented: “In today’s systems integration business you must be both near the customer and well resourced. AVC will bring us project opportunities that neither of us working separately could have undertaken.”

Sandy Bolton (founder partner of AVC) and Bob Simpson (director of Electrosonic Group and chairman of Electrosonic Ltd) agreed: “We hesitate to say how long we have known each other in the AV business, but we are absolutely delighted that AVC and Electrosonic are now coming together. We feel that the businesses have a common culture, and that their merging will bring benefits both to the businesses and to our customers in Scotland.”
