White Light Exclusives in Mary Poppins

White Light Sales recently supplied a large quantity of lighting equipment to Bristol-based Stage Electrics for use on the new Cameron Mackintosh/Disney stage production of Mary Poppins.

Howard Harrison's lighting design for this new musical, which opened at the Bristol Hippodrome Theatre on the 28th September and will transfer to the Prince Edward Theatre in London on the 6th of December, called for a number of items for which White Light are the exclusive UK distributor.

Included in the shopping list were 50 LDDE DMX-controlled four-colour fluorescent cyc battens, used to light the many painted cloths in Bob Crowley's scenic design. In addition, 100 Rainbow 6" Pro and 20 Rainbow 8" Pro colour scrollers, were specified for their ability to provide individual scroller fan speed control per unit, so allowing the production team to minimise the scroller background noise. From Look Solutions’ came four Unique haze machines and 13 miniature Tiny Fogger smoke machines, three of

which are mains powered and DMX controlled, so they can be hidden in chimney pots. Two Robert Juliat Jalousie dimmer shutters are used on UV lights, and two Robert Juliat Ivanhoe followspots were also supplied.

All of the equipment was supplied to Stage Electrics in time for the show's Bristol fit-up, where it was installed by a team led by senior production electrician Fraser Hall and his team of Steve Reeve, Chris Luscombe and Ben Jeffries.

Mary Poppins, adapted from the novels of P L Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, is produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Thomas Schumacher for Disney Theatrical Productions.
