DiGiCo for New Danish National Broadcast Facility

From the start, DR had very ambitious plans for the technical infrastructure of the new premises and, as a part of these plans, almost all the technical equipment in DR BYEN will be as new as the buildings it resides in.
And that’s a lot of equipment – some £70 million worth of it. Not surprisingly, DR BYEN has attracted a lot of attention from virtually all corners of the globe. The massive shopping spree was organised in a number of EU tenders to ensure fair competition, and on 9th November, the contract for live digital mixing consoles was awarded to New Musik, DiGiCo’s Danish distributor, for the DiGiCo D5 Live.
The order is for an initial three consoles, with an option of another two and will be used for a variety of live productions, not least the performances in DR’s spectacular new 1,800-seat concert hall, a part of DR BYEN.
Mogens Balle, of New Musik, states: “Obviously, we are very happy with the order. This is a truly high profiled installation, which will further enhance DiGiCo’s leading position in this market. With the D5 Live, the D5T and their latest addition the D1, DiGiCo now has a range of high quality digital live consoles that just can’t be beaten.”
The first D5 Live consoles are due for delivery in early spring 2005.
Bob Doyle, managing director of DiGiCo (UK) Ltd says: “This D5 broadcast install contract is the culmination of many months of hard work and detailed study between Denmark’s Radio, New Musik and DiGiCo and initiates what I am sure will be a long and happy association with our colleagues in Denmark.”
