PMC Upgrade for BBC MV3

A flagship PMC BB5-XBD-A system has replaced the BBC's first-ever PMC monitors (the first production BB5 series, installed in 1991), now providing higher resolution sonic performance, based on improved cross-over design, significantly enhanced bass driver and Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) technology and Bryston power.
Adam Askew, operations manager, BBC Radio Resources, was instrumental in the decisions taken to improve the performance of the room: "MV3 is a commercial studio and we're in the business of meeting the highest professional standards. As a result we have upgraded to a 72 channel SSL 9000J series, moved the console position back, significantly improved the acoustic performance of the walls and mountings and replaced the old PMC BB5s with the up-to-date bass extended BB5-XBD-A version. It was clear that the PMCs already worked well in the room and it was therefore decided that the new design would benefit most of all from an upgrade of the system. We've finished testing the room and the improvement is exceptional."
