Cheltenham Stage Services Buys Full Rental System from Marquee Audio
As part of a significant expansion in 2005, Cheltenham Stage Services has fully joined the ranks of UK tour sound companies with the purchase of a Meyer MSL-4 system from Marquee Audio.
For the last year, CSS has been operating a sub-hired MSL-4 system, building up a roster of festival and touring clients, and moving beyond its local Cheltenham circuit. After a busy summer, the company, which covers the whole of the Midlands, Wales and the West Country, has taken the decision to make a permanent investment. As a result, Marquee Audio has supplied 8x MSL-4s, 4x 650-Ps, 4x UPA-1Ps, and a 48-channel Allen & Heath ML4000 mixing console.
"Our sister company, Event & Management Services, was instrumental in specifying the Meyer M1D line array system that has been installed here at The Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse. This is the biggest venue in this region," explains Steve Roskilly of CSS. "It therefore made great sense for us to invest in equipment that would complement what The Centaur has so that, for larger events, we can understack their line array with a compatible but beefier system."
Steve Roskilly reports that the system is already booked for "the splurge of music activity" that surrounds the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, and also for the Cheltenham Jazz Festival in May. "We'll also be targeting corporate event work with this system, now that we've made some headway in the rock 'n' roll market."
