Hand Held Audio Have a 1046 Xmas

London-based wireless specialists Hand Held Audio have expanded their hire stock with the purchase of 16 channels of the Sennheiser 1046 system. The top of the range system favoured by broadcasters and West End theatre is part of Hand Held's planned expansion for their rental operation.

The chosen format was two of the 1046 receiver racks with eight modules in each, 16 of the SK3063 belt pack transmitters and 20 MKE2 Gold lavalier microphones. Hand Held's existing stock of SKM5000N hand held transmitters with the Neumann K105 capsule and their SK5012 miniature belt pack transmitters will be integrated into the system to provide broadcast clients with a comprehensive choice of favoured kit.

First job for the new equipment was at the Royal Variety Performance at the Coliseum Theatre, broadcast on Wednesday 15th December. As part of a huge radio microphone system put together by the BBC, Sennheiser and Hand Held Audio, the kit was used by artists including Elton John, Lisa Minelli, Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton-John and Lemar in the presence of the Prince of Wales.

Radio Mic & Talkback operations co-ordinator for BBC Resources, Richard Kemp commented: All broadcast events need audio quality and absolute reliability. As always with Sennheiser 1046 you switch it on knowing it will deliver."

Hand Held director Nick Bruce-Smith said, "I'd been thinking about getting into the 1046 system for some time and now I'm really pleased that we have. Quite apart from anything else it's given us some new frequency options and because of that it's gone straight from the Royal Variety show onto Sir Cliff's Celebrity Christmas tennis event at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham."
