Cirque at the London Hippodrome
ShowCAD Artist show controller has been commissioned for the April 1st re-opening of Cirque at The Hippodrome, Leicester Square. The refit has been conducted by installation company Showtec of Shoreham by Sea and the ShowCAD Artist has been put to use controlling conventional and intelligent lighting, principally supplied by Coemar UK, and also a range of James Thomas Pixeline LED effects, to which its effects generators are particularly suited. Programmer Bob Calvert has assisted Light Jockey of the Year winner Colin Walker, who will be the club’s resident LJ, to commission the 2048 channel system.
It was 20 years ago today ‘almost exactly’ that ShowCAD directors Mick Martin and Rowland Hughes, then trading as Martin Hughes Developments, commissioned the original Peter Stringfellow club’s then enormous 800 channel effects lighting system, employing their 16 channel 25 amp power packs located around the building and in the “satellite” modules that descend from the ceiling. These power packs were still working up to the current refit, and perhaps their newly installed ShowCAD Artist system will still be working in 2024 when another refit comes around!
