Plasmascreen Co Fly High
Plasmascreen Co created a new flying system for their revolutionary 84” plasma screen used for the first time this month. The British Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress requested the screen be flown in the Birmingham ICC, and Plasmascreen Co rose to the challenge. For the first time in this country, the massive screen was flown above delegates.
The event took place across five days, bringing together more than 8,000 delegates and a range of conferences took place at the ICC with an exhibition filling the NIA. When the ICC requested the screen be flown above the meeting area, to act as a medium for conference messages, a practical solution had to be found. Plasmascreen Co project manager, Steve Kilby aided in the creation of a specially designed bracket capable of holding the 140kg screen, and allowed it to be rigged for the first time.
The Plasmascreen Co team brought the screen into the venue the day before the event and oversaw its installation. With a rig in the ICC ceiling capable of holding ½ ton, the ICC in-house crew lifted the screen on its bracket above the ground, and safely secured it. The screen was also hung in a slightly tilted position so as to reduce the glare produced by the lighting, essential in the ICC where the lighting is very bright.
ICC technical services manager, Paul Dipple, commented: “We have been delighted with the service and versatility from Plasmascreen Co. Our request to fly the 84” screen in the ICC was achieved with no fuss and the team provided full technical support throughout its installation.”
