ALLEN & HEATH JAMS WITH STING

ALLEN & HEATH JAMS WITH STING

Durham-based OSS Pro Audio provided the PA system for an exclusive music workshop at Newcastle College, held by the city's most famous celebrity, Sting. OSS selected Allen & Heath consoles to manage sound, with a 24-channel GL4 live sound console controlling monitors and a 24-channel ML3000 live sound VCA console at FOH.

Newcastle-born Sting is an industrial adviser on the College's BMus (Hons) in Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music course and agreed to take part in a unique masterclass with music students. Unable to sing due to a throat infection, one lucky member of the audience, second year student Andrew Mockler, was offered the impromptu opportunity to sing

the artist's biggest hit, 'Every Breath You Take'.

Sting played bass, backed by the College's music teacher, Gerry Richardson, who was in the star's first band. Keyboardist Richardson was joined by his current band members, Paul Smith on drums and Rod Sinclair on guitar. Sting's percussionist and backing vocalists, along with a horn section, also performed on some tracks.

The Allen & Heath ML mixer, supplied by Nitelites, was supported by a DBX Driverack system, XTA, Klark Teknik, BSS and Lexicon outboard. On stage, OSS's "much loved" GL4 was used to provide 6 monitor mixes, with BSS outboard.
