Chubb Chooses Millbank in Wales
Chubb - the leading provider of security and fire protection services - has recently collaborated with PA/VA specialist Millbank to provide multi-purpose integrated systems into Swansea’s new Maritime Museum, Swansea FC’s (Morfa) Stadium, Newport’s impressive new Theatre and Arts Centre, and the new Welsh Assembly Building in Cardiff.
As four of the most exciting new multi-million pound new-build projects ever seen in Wales, Millbank’s CEO Neil Voce and Chubb’s customer accounts manager, Scott Philips, worked closely to ensure that each system achieves their exacting specifications.
Scott Phillips explained: “Millbank’s support has been invaluable and played a vital role in winning these prestigious contracts. It’s terrific to work with forward thinking company whose product range and technical know-how enables us to provide such versatile and cutting-edge systems. With the plethora of projects recently undertaken in Wales, we’re looking forward to building on our relationship with the Millbank team and setting a precedent in many new-build projects nationwide.”
Cardiff’s £50 million Assembly Building, designed by Lord Richard Rogers, is designed to capture the imagination of the Welsh people and symbolise Welsh democracy in the 21st century. Situated in a prominent waterfront position on Cardiff Bay, the building is set for completion in August 2005. Millbank offered a sophisticated VA system, comprising their 10MAX Voice Alarm Controller and SAM8 Amplifier with in built loudspeaker line monitoring system. In order for the system to blend seamlessly into the building’s stunning interior, Millbank’s design has enabled the speakers to either be integrated into the light fittings or mounted behind custom-built wooden grilles sympathising with the natural fabrics of the building.
Newport’s £13m Theatre and Arts centre, which is due to open in August 2004, boasts a sophisticated distributed digital VxLAN system. Configured over two racks, the compact system is driven by Millbank’s powerful DsPAC mainframe amplifiers and delivered by WHD loudspeakers. In addition, in line with the imminent Disability Discrimination Act, Millbank supplied a host of induction loops designed for use in the box office area to allow easy access for the hard of hearing.
In contrast, for Swansea’s stunning new £24 million White Rock (Morfa) stadium, designed by TTH Architects, a significant VxLAN system was deployed to enable PA/VA distribution over the 20,000-seat multi-purpose stadium. Powered by DsPAC amplifiers, the audio is delivered by Proel Bowl speakers as used at LCFC and Hull. The system is simple to operate by virtue of its touch screen control panel.
At Swansea’s stunning new £30 million Maritime Museum, an industry standard Millbank Verifire 12 zone Voice Alarm system was specified along with a plethora of induction loops and Sennheiser Infra-Red audio guide systems. The system will enable a hugely interactive environment, whilst providing solutions for the sensory disabled.
