Croatia’s HRT Increases Tally of SSL Digital Consoles To Five

UK console manufacturer Solid State Logic is supplying two C100 digital broadcast consoles to Croatia’s national TV broadcaster, Hrvatska Televizija.

The broadcaster, which is based in the Croatian capital of Zagreb, is building two identical fully-digital Outside Broadcast vehicles. Both vehicles will house SSL C124 consoles with 64 processing channels, full redundancy (Processing, PSU, Hard Disk) 36 Mic Ins, 24 Analogue I/Os and 64 Digital I/Os all fitted within Centuri processors.

After putting the project out to international tender, Hrvatska Televizija eventually chose Sony Professional Services in Basingstoke, UK, as its supplier. Spectra UK was commissioned by Sony to handle the coachbuilding for both trucks, which are scheduled for completion this summer with final delivery to the broadcaster in the Autumn.

Davor Defar, Hrvatska Televizija’s audio system engineer, says he was pleased the C100 consoles were chosen for their operational ease and because they are very compact. “The audio room in each truck has a limited amount of space so we needed a console that fitted these physical restraints without compromising functionality or audio quality. The C100 consoles were ideal because their Centuri processors accommodate all the I/Os, thus saving a great deal of space. Also we know SSL consoles to be reliable, thanks to previous good experiences we have had with other SSL consoles at the HRT.”

Damir Begovic, SSL’s sales manager for Central & Eastern Europe, adds: “We are delighted that our C100s have been chosen for such a prestigious project and we see this as a natural continuation of our already close relationship with both Croatian Television and Croatian Radio. Earlier this year we delivered a C232 digital production console to Croatian Radio for its new OB truck and we are proud of the fact that Croatia’s national broadcaster HRT will soon have five of SSL’s large-scale digital consoles at its faclities in Zagreb. Among these are an Aysis Air Plus in the broadcaster’s main Television news/production studio, an MT Plus in Radio’s main music production studio, the previously mentioned C232 in Radio’s OB Truck and, now, two C124s in the new Television OB trucks.”
