CT Screenco Relays BBC\'s Biggest Music Live Concert to 18,000 in Belfast

The BBC’s Beautiful Night free concert in Belfast was not only the climax of the the Corporation’s Music Live festival but also its largest musical event of 2004.

Crowds of 18,000 assembled in Donegall Square, in front of the magnificent City Hall, where performances by Alanis Morissette, Bob Geldof, The Divine Comedy, Katie Melua, Kila, Moya Brennan, Ronan Keating, Gabrielle, Jamie Cullum, Zucchero, Brian Kennedy and more were magnified on stage via a 45 sq metre Barco DLite 7 Daylight screen, in widescreen format, and four strategically-positioned 18 sq metre 25mm LED relay screens in peripheral areas … all provided by CT Screenco.

Working under the direction of production manager Robbie Williams, CT Screenco relayed all feeds from the BBC in either 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 aspect ratio. Presented by Patrick Kielty, the concert, which broadcast live on BBC One and BBC One NI, also featured unique filmed contributions from Ash and Westlife.

Beautiful Night concert brought the curtain down on the 11-day Music Live festival which took place throughout Northern Ireland and brought music in its many forms, to towns, cities, concerts halls, pubs and stages.
