Martin Architectural and Philips Luminaires Support Rainbow for Europe Project
To celebrate the accession of the ten new member states to the European Union on 1st May and Europe Day on 9th May, this project will highlight in colour important cultural sites, spanning a rainbow of lighting and color across the continent.
The six cultural sites being illuminated in the project are:
Warsaw’s Royal Palace (red), Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate (orange), Rome’s Coliseum (yellow), Vienna’s Museum of Fine Arts (green), Brussels’ European Parliament (blue) and Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior (violet).
The project, running from 30th April to 10th May, will serve as a symbol of unity, peace and time between peoples. It expresses the utopian vision of the artist of a united, peaceful continent not confined by the EU frontiers but extending to the geographical limits of Europe and thus opening up the vista of a possible future in peace and prosperity.
Waltraut Cooper comments: “I am delighted that my Rainbow for Europe project has captured the imagination of two such leading companies in the field of lighting as Philips and Martin Architectural.”
