Matrix First Phase Completed

The first phase of the Leonardo da Vinciinitiative Matrix is now complete. In Athens, international partners presented key features in order to optimize educational offers within the European events industry.

These key features include Business and Job Reality within the European events industry with supporting generalisation and specialisation. New job profiles will be the result of individuals’ choices in an optimized module menu. There will be special educational modules which lead to job profiles. Matrix is planning special events for communication with public and experts which can help to discuss these results.

The goal of this first phase of the project was to source statistic data for further analysis in order to define education standards and needs within the events sector. The surveyed people wanted to see interdisciplinary education Europe-wide. The form this takes should be training on-the-job supplied in the form of seminars for all people working in the sector. The future will lead to more international exchange.

The survey also showed that career paths in all sectors and countries are equal and comparable. A big challenge in the future will be the integration of the theoretical education and systematic soft skill training with relevance to job reality and in relation to time and money available.

The aim of Matrix is to create a framework in which educational standards and future employment security can be guaranteed through new opportunities for training and further education. Within this framework of the EU ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ initiative, the Siemens Media Academy, along with several international partners, are working on Project Matrix, an examination of and enquiry into the optimization of educational offers within the events industry. Agencies, customers, freelancers and event-service-providers are being asked to participate in this initiative.

The Leonardo da Vinci project Matrix is an ongoing initiative, running until spring 2006. Enterprises and institutions, theatre specialists and scientists, event professionals and other industry education specialists from several European countries are involved.
