Sennheiser UK Appointed Distributor for NetCIRA

Sennheiser UK has announced its appointment as UK distributor forcNetCIRA, a range of innovative products for distributing real-timecmulti-channel audio over Ethernet.

NetCIRA - Network Commercial, Industrial and Residential Audio - is a new brand from the Fostex Company of Japan. Offering practically packaged and easy to install products, NetCIRA brings network audio to a wide market and creates a new price/performance standard for the technology. Ideally suited for both live and installed sound distribution due to its "real-time" behaviour, NetCIRA products are set to become a standard for audio distribution over Ethernet.

The product range will include the MS-8, a hybrid master/slave 19" unit and a number of ES 'slave-only' modules. The MS-8 can either be an 8 channel master transmitter or slave receiver on any of the 64 channels depending on what optional card is fitted to the unit. These currently consist of AES/EBU on XLR; balanced analogue on XLR; unbalanced analogue on RCA; ADAT Lightpipe(tm); and balanced analogue on screw block terminations including an 8 way programmable general purpose input or output. The MS-8 also features an RS232 port for all manner of remote control applications.

The ES-1 and ES-2 are low-profile 1 and 2 channel slave receivers respectively that have outputs on both RCA and screw block terminations. These units are designed to cost-effectively deliver network audio to many points in an installation and can have both their individual channel and level controlled remotely via either the LR-1 Local Remote Control option; or indeed via the NetCIRA(tm) system network as a whole though a computer linked to the primary master unit; and even via a LAN or WAN. The ES-1A and

2A are amplified versions of the former products providing up to 20 watts output, while the ES-1PRO and ES-2PRO provide a higher-quality DAC with XLR outputs and a remotely switched power output for, say, active monitor control. Over 63,000 of these devices can co-exist on one NetCIRA network and can be cabled in star and/or daisy chain topologies. Finally, the SI-1 and SI-1H are ceiling speakers featuring Fostex's HP cone technology, which can be combined with the ES-1A & ES-2A to provide superior quality distributed audio at a very cost efficient level.

Commenting on the appointment, Sennheiser UK's product marketing manager, Paul Nunnington, said: "This is a really exciting product for Sennheiser UK, being the future of audio distribution for installed and live sound. Across the broad spread of markets in which we operate, NetCIRA offers our customers real opportunities with system flexibility, performance and price. NetCIRA also complements the Sennheiser products and those from our distributed brands, further strengthening Sennheiser UK's market leading position."
