Blackout Sets Stage for OKI Launch in Berlin
Blackout was appointed by Windsor-based production house Positive Image Ltd to help realise the launch environment for OKI Europe’s new C3000 Series and C5000 Series colour printers. Staged at The Hyatt Hotel in Berlin, the two-day event was attended by over 500 key press and VIP OKI partners from the UK and mainland Europe.
Blackout’s team was headed by Ken Nock, who collaborated with Positive Image’s production director, Bill Kennedy, to install a massive ground support truss system. The giant structure measured 22 metres wide x 5.8 metres high, and maximised the venue’s awkward special dimensions that offered more width than height, measuring 23 metres wide x 6 metres high x 34 metres in length. The structure was built from James Thomas Super-tower support legs, utilising Thomas 76cm trussing for the cross-spans. This flexible approach enabled them to achieve maximum height trim on-site.
A full lighting rig supplied by London-based Essential Lighting plus three Christie projectors, supplied by Guernsey based Joy productions was rigged on to the structure, which was constructed over a tiered seating system, supplied by Square One, and spanning 20 metres.
Bill Kennedy, commented: “Blackout’s took the challenging venue logistics in their stride, including working around dozens of venue chandeliers, providing the perfect truss system that was pivotal to the production’s success. They worked to tight deadlines, with a positive can-do approach from start to finish.”
