Cascade Digital Amp System for Expandable Multi-channel Power

Cascade Digital Amp System for Expandable Multi-channel Power

PMC has launched the Flying Mole Cascade Series multi-channel power amplifier system, offering unparalleled power, weight, performance and space saving advantages, over cost comparable conventional technology.

Awarded the Design and Engineering Showcase Honor for Innovation at this year’s International CES, the class-D, 1 bit, rack-housed amp modules provide a uniquely compact and powerful reference quality solution for all manner of professional monitor, custom installation, and home theatre applications. Providing a total rated output of up to 2560W, each 19 inch, 3U high rack can be fitted with up to eight two-channel or single channel amp modules, providing 2 x 160W/4‡ or 1 x 300W/8‡ respectively. Mixed configurations of two channel and single channel modules can be accommodated within a single rack.

The Cascade Series is based around Flying Mole Corporation's proprietary Bi-Phase Fusion digital amplification technology, which enables unification of the amplifier and switch-mode power supply circuits, by means of newly developed patented micro-circuitry. This design provides discrete power supply to each amplifier module. The resultant significant size and weight reduction is accompanied by a power conversion efficiency of 85%. The unit runs far cooler than either conventional analogue or existing digital amplifier designs; continuous power consumption is just 1/8 of maximum output. A further ecological bonus is that standby power consumption for each unit is a mere 6W. Fully fitted with eight amp modules, the Cascade rack weighs just 16Kg / 31lbs. The Cascade Series amp racks are available in Professional and Domestic variants, featuring either balanced XLR inputs and Speakon connectors, or unbalanced phono inputs and binding posts.

As exclusive pan-European distributor of Flying Mole products, PMC has identified a range of professional and consumer applications where the Cascade series will offer cost and performance advantages over any other currently available products. Head of sales Miles Roberts comments: " These new technology breakthroughs from the Flying Mole Corporation have resulted in an unbeatable package. We can foresee this becoming a standard for all future system integration."
