D5 Live at China National Stadium Breaking Ground Ceremony

Although this year’s Olympic Games have not yet started, the hosts of the 2008 Summer Olympics, the BOCOG (Beijing Organising Committee of the Olympic Games), are breaking ground at sites at a record pace and plan to finish work on the four new venues under construction by the close of 2006.

The end of April saw the ‘Breaking Ground’ ceremony for the China National Stadium in Beijing take place in the venue’s Construction Plant. The event was celebrated with a host of music and dance acts. Advanced Communication Equipment (ACE), DiGiCo’s Chinese distributor, used a DiGiCo D5 Live digital mixing console to control the entire sound system for the ceremony.

“In dress rehearsal, we were able to save our preferred settings for the various singers and bands into the console’s snapshots,” comments ACE’s Bingo Tso. “This meant that during the performance, we could load the best settings for each act immediately, which saved us a lot of time.”

After the ceremony, Mr.Maxin, sound engineer for the Beijing TV Station said: "DiGiCo’s D5 is the best tool for me.”
