Dimension Extend With Sony Radios and Richmond Audioboxes

As part of its ongoing policy to maintain a leading-edge hire fleet of audio tools, Dimension Audio has taken advantage of the expanded warehousing facilities afforded by its move to Crawley with a further upgrade.

Under new general manager Mark Boden, the event specialists have purchased six of Sony’s new four-way MB-8N high-specification broadcast/theatre radio mic receivers, along with monitors and PC. Mark says: “The PC allows you to monitor all the RF output from your radio mics.” The fact that it was compatible with the Sony Freedom radio mics was influential in the purchasing decision.

At the same time, Dimension Audio has consolidated its stock of the groundbreaking Richmond Sound AudioBoxes (AB1616) and now has three of the 8-track digital audio matrix/playback devices.

Project manager Dave Rondeau says the benefit to Dimension Audio of this virtual matrix and hard disk system is that samples can be loaded in (as WAV files) and triggered back as cues. The AudioBox is capable of sending and routing audio to any combination of 16 outputs, while taking cues direct from MIDI Show Control (MSC) or synching to a number of different systems. The system incorporates spatialistion software. “With its own internal clock the AudioBox is perfect for the theme park market,” says Dave.

Dimension Audio originally purchased its first award-winning AudioBox for use on a European tour to promote the Xbox.
