Motherwell Theatre Installs Nexo PS15s

After running its existing public address system into the ground over an extended period in which it served a wide variety of incoming productions, North Lanarkshire Council recently gave the green light for an audio upgrade at Motherwell Theatre.

The Council approached Scottish-based Northern Light, and after consultation with the venue’s head of sound, Stephen Ellis, a Nexo PS15 system was duly specified and installed.

Stephen commented: “I had harboured the idea of replacing our system with PS15’s for a while. We had been running a pair of PS10’s for delays and small PA’s — and I liked the sound so I decided to go the next step up. I haven’t been disappointed, and the PS15’s offer great value for money.”

The most powerful member of Nexo’s PS Series, the PS15’s functionality is further optimised when operated in tandem with the dedicated PS15 TD analogue processor.

Run full range, it is sufficiently compact and versatile to handle the wide range of shows which the Theatre receives.

A central cluster of two PS15’s is suspended from the existing winch bar, with a further two, mounted on wall brackets, positioned on either side of the proscenium arch, in the 394-capacity auditorium.

“This is an excellent, versatile box which will meet the wide requirement of the theatre,” says Northern Light’s Stuart Archibald, who was responsible for the sale. “It needs to be able to handle theatre shows, using a large number of radio mics, through to folk bands, and the transparency required by acoustic instruments.”

Supplied along with the Nexo loudspeakers by UK distributors, Fuzion UK, was all the cabling — courtesy of Kelsey Acoustics.

Motherwell Theatre sits alongside the 1008 (seated) capacity Concert Hall, as part of the town’s Civic Centre complex. The first production to be heard through the new Nexo enclosures was the Children of Eden, presented by Motherwell College.
