PCM at the ABTT Theatre Show 2004

PCM is highlighting three product ranges at the 2004 ABTT Show – it’s Award-winning Unibar and Pilewind winches, and its range of CM Lodestar Motors.

PCM put the Lodestar brand on the map during the 1990s as far as the European touring and event industry is concerned. PCM supplies a wide selection of standard Lodestar electric chain hoists which will be highlighted on the stand, together with details of PCM’s legendary Motor Schools. PCM also features the VBG70/ BGV C1 Lodestar – a hoist with special safety features; these Lodestars have double brakes, each capable of stopping the full load. They provide double the usual hoist safety factor, with a chain safety factor of 10:1, plus 4-position limit switches including emergency switches, 24 volt control, under/overload electronic protection and a slack chain detection device.

PCM has designed this unique Award winning product (PLASA 2003 Product Excellence) in collaboration with Slingco. It’s an exciting new winch system that allows the quick and easy raising/lowering of lighting or suspension bars for scenery, with a motor driven unit. Unibar is a flexible user friendly unit that can be installed onto any style of fixing or structure, including universal beams, trussing, channels and barrels.

The Unibar is a cost-effective alternative to the more sophisticated power-assisted winch sets. It is initially available in 250 or 400 kg models with single or two speed options. The entire Unibar unit is self-contained, with the motor unit positioned on the end of the track. Single or three phase power options are offered, and other product highlights include simple, logical ‘Plug-and-Play’ operation. Dual brakes are also available as an option.

Unibar supports any number of suspension cables and any length of suspension bar with the ultimate top and bottom limits contained within the unit’s controls. Unibar units can be positioned side by side, and the suspension bars are at 200 mm centres – a vital requirement for all theatres. The Unibar control panel can either be fixed to the wall or operated by hand-held remote.

PCM’s award winning Pilewind winch (winner of a PLASA Product Excellence Award in 2002) is designed for multi-purpose theatrical applications. It alleviates the strain of winding units up and down by hand. It offers great flexibility and is designed to raise and lower theatrical lanterns and stage props – ideal for a wide variety of productions. Pilewind lifts loads up to 250kg (550lbs) and is available in manual, pneumatic, electric or battery driven formats. Operation is achieved simply by applying one of the hand tools to the main drive shaft with a 27 mm hexagonal socket and drill to socket adaptor.
